Chilli-Cheese Loaded Skin-On Fries at Frisk Radio - Your Destination for Dance

The mild chilli and spring onion topping give this all-year-rounder a subtle kick!

When I told my Facebook followers about this meal (which I stole from the menu of the Kittiwake in Whitley Lodge), it got a great response... So I decided to share the recipe!

The ingredients below are for 4 people.

Ingredients

500g Mince

Pack of frozen, Skin-on Fries

1 Onion (red/white)

1 Pepper (red/green)

1 tin of chopped tomatoes

1 tsp mild Chilli Powder

1 tsp Paprika

1 tsp Cumin

1 tsp Majoram (a green herb)

1 dessert spoon of Lazy Garlic (or 4 pods of fresh garlic if you have a press)

2 spring onions

Block of cheap cheese

Prep

  1. Chop the onion and peppers into cubes.
  2. Chop the spring onion into little rings.
  3. Grate the cheese.

Cook the Chilli

Stir regularly through these steps to stop anything sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.

  1. Heat a glug of olive oil in a pan or wok.
  2. Add the onions and fry for 1 minute
  3. Add peppers and fry for another few minutes.
  4. Add garlic and fry for another minute
  5. Add the mince and fry until it turns brown
  6. Add the chilli powder, cumin, paprika and majoram
  7. Pour in the chopped tomatoes and 300ml water.

Put the lid on the pan, turn down the heat and leave to simmer. Continue to stir regularly.

Cook the Fries and Assemble

Stick a handful of fries (per person) in the air fryer (you DO have an air fryer, right?.... in the oven, if not) and cook for 11-12 minutes, or as directed.

Place cooked fries on the plate.

Add a couple of generous spoonful's of chilli.

Add handful of cheese.

Sprinkle spring onions.

These cheese should melt of its own accord, otherwise nuke it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

In the words of Peppa Pig. It's deeeee-licious!
