Flamingo Land Zoo: What You'll See
The zoo comes with every park ticket, home to 140+ species from tigers to penguins, plus a giraffe encounter you can add on for something extra.
What's Included in Your Ticket
The zoo is part of your Flamingo Land admission, so there's no separate ticket to buy. With over 140 species across the site, you could easily spend a full day here without touching a single ride.
The Animals Worth Building Your Day Around
Tigers are one of the headline draws, alongside the resident lions. Head into the African section for giraffes, white rhinos, hippos, zebras and ostriches, then make time for Penguin Coast, home to Flamingo Land's newest penguin pool. The Muddy Duck Farm collection is worth a stop too, especially if you've got younger children who want to get closer to more familiar farm animals.
Beyond the big names, look out for the baboons, Brazilian tapirs, vicuñas and meerkats, plus the sea lions, otters and a strong bird collection including parrots and peafowl. These are the animals most visitors walk past without realising what they're missing.
Keeper Talks and Hands-on Experiences
Throughout the day, keepers run talks and handling sessions across the zoo, so it's worth checking the schedule when you arrive rather than planning your route in advance. If you want to go further, the "Be A Zoo Keeper" experience, Animal Encounters and the Zoo Trails all give you a closer look at how the animals are cared for.
The Giraffe Encounter
If you want more than a walk past the giraffe paddock, you can book the Giraffe Encounter: hand-feeding the giraffes alongside a hoofstock keeper, right next to the white rhino enclosure. It costs £50 per person, on top of your park admission, and includes a giraffe plush toy and a certificate to take home.
Book at least 24 hours ahead, since slots are limited. The minimum age is 8, and under-12s need to be with a paying adult.
Tip It's outdoors, so wear sensible footwear and bring waterproofs just in case.
Conservation Work
Flamingo Land runs international breeding programmes for endangered species and supports conservation work further afield, including the Udzungwa Forest project in Tanzania. It's a reminder that the zoo side of the resort is doing more than putting animals on show.
How to Plan Your Zoo Time
With 140+ species spread across 375 acres, trying to see everything in one go is how you end up seeing none of it properly. Pick two or three sections to focus on, tigers and Penguin Coast plus the giraffes, for example, and treat the rest as a bonus if you get to it.
Money Saver Book your park ticket online in advance rather than paying on the day. It's the same zoo and the same park, just at a lower price.
FAQs
Is the Zoo Included in a Normal Flamingo Land Ticket?
Yes. The zoo sits within the same site as the theme park and is included in your park admission, so there's nothing extra to pay to see the animals.
How Long Do I Need for the Zoo?
Allow at least half a day if you want to see the main sections properly. With 140+ species across 375 acres, rushing through means missing most of it.
Can You Feed the Giraffes?
Yes, through the Giraffe Encounter. It costs £50, includes a plush toy and a certificate, and needs to be booked at least 24 hours ahead. The minimum age is 8, and under-12s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
